There is a section on "Explorations and Formulas" (20-22) which includes romance in the discussion.

There is "A Composite of a Romance Tip Sheet" (22-25) followed (26) by some questions in a section titled "Considerations for Critical Thinking and Writing."

There is section on "A Comparison of Two Stories" (26-40). The first story is an excerpt from Karen van der Zee's A Secret Sorrow (1981). In addition to the two texts, there is a section titled "Considerations for Critical Thinking and Writing."

There are, of course, other editions of this volume and they are not identical. For example, the Fourth Edition contains a very short excerpt from Tania Modleski's Loving with a Vengeance instead of the essay by Kay Mussell which is in the Sixth Edition. The Fourth Edition does appear to have all the other sections, I've listed above about romance. Similarly, the Second Edition has the sections on "Explorations and Formulas," "A Composite of a Romance Tip Sheet" but the question section is called only "Considerations." The section titled "A Comparison of Two Stories" still includes the excerpt from Karen van der Zee but the essay by Kay Mussell is one titled "A Defense of Formula Romances," and is an excerpt from Mussell's Fantasy and Reconciliation. The pagination, of course, also differs.

I decided to concentrate on the Sixth Edition because it gave academic publication to an essay by Mussell which hadn't been published that way before.
