All seven of the women I interviewed had at earlier times in their lives read Harlequin romances or other formula romance fiction. Four of the women whom I cite here no longer read any type of formula romance fiction. The other three continue to read romance fiction, though only one continues to read Harlequins. She reads Harlequin romances and Barbara Cartland historical romances as well as mysteries and detective fiction.
