The origin for this journal’s special issue began with the idea to create a podcast on Black romance with conversations on the history of writing and publishing popular romance. This podcast would be integrated into the Digital Public History Scholarship at the Center for Black Diaspora at DePaul University. Julie intended the conversations with Black popular romance writers, industry experts, and romance scholars to document an oral history of Black popular romance.

The special issue includes: essays (listed separately); a bibliography (which includes non-academic sources) -https://doi.org/10.70138/PTEX7128;  interviews with important figures in Black romance (which I have not listed separately because they are transcripts of episodes of the Black Romance Podcast, created and hosted by Julie E. Moody-Freeman, but they are linked to below).
