"I wanted to walk briefly through my own history of finding queer Black people in romance" (71)
---
I don't [...] want to overstate the presence of sapphic Black romances. There aren't nearly enough queer Black women in romance books and I don't think that can be overstated. The genre is years away from that being a hyperbolic statement. Somehow, in the midst of both diverse romances and queer romances moving into mainstream, traditionally published romance, there is a dearth of books that feature queer Black women. (74)
