In this master thesis different types of phraseological units found in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton: The Viscount Who Loved Me (2021) are classified according to the classification provided in Sabine Fiedler’s English Phraseology: A Coursebook (2007). In the theoretical part of the thesis, there is a brief description of phraseology and an analysis of the different categories of PUs. After that, the research aims and methodology which are used in the research are being described in detail. The corpus which is presented contains 92 sentences in which 94 phraseological units are found. Moreover, the sentences are listed according to the order in which they appear in the book, more precisely according to the pages in which they appear. The meanings of phraseological units are derived from various online dictionaries, as they are widely accessible and offer precise definitions of PUs. Furthermore, the context of the Bridgerton novels and the plot of Bridgerton: The Viscount Who Loved Me (2021) are explained. Each PU is classified in a table according to the type of PU it belongs to and is analysed in detail. At the end of the thesis, the results of the research are presented. The main purpose of this research and thesis was to show which types of phraseological units according to Sabine Fiedler’s classification were used the most. The results showed that phraseological nominations are the most used PUs in Julia Quinn’s book Bridgerton: The Viscount Who Loved Me (2021).
