Most of the essays were conversational in tone and were a little like extended (one-sided!) conversations with other Heyer enthusiasts. If you are looking into this book as an academic text, however, you will be disappointed. While some articles (for example, Kirsten Elliott's on Georgette Heyer in Bath) bring a clear degree of specialist knowledge (whether perceived of as 'traditionally academic' or not), the majority are opinion pieces which are popular in tone and don't really engage with the developing field of academic Heyer criticism.
