There are so many entries in this work that I have only listed as topics the ones whose names I think are already in this database. I've probably missed some. Also, obviously given I included the fact that this is the 2nd edition, there are other editions of this book.
The consulting editor, D. L. Kirkpatrick, was also a co-editor of Twentieth Century Romance and Gothic Writers (ed. James Vinson) and I think where there is overlap in the authors, there is also overlap in the content of the entries. At least, when I did a spot check/comparison of two entries for authors which are in both, the text seemed identical. In addition, the preface by Kay Mussell seems to be an updated version of the one she wrote for the earlier volume.
The format for each author is:
- Author's name (and pseudonyms if used)
- Biographical details
- List of works published
- A short essay/description of the works.
